Description

The 38th president lived in this house from 1921-1930. It is located at 649 Union Street, in the historic Grand Rapids neighborhood called Heritage Hill. Ford moved in when he was 8 years old, and moved out when he was 17. Of all his boyhood homes, Ford recalls in his autobiography, it was in this one that he had the most vivid, lasting experiences. It was here that Ford internalized his family's credo to work hard, tell the truth, and come home to dinner on time.
