Description

At Gill Elementary School, it is our belief that the media center is the hub of learning in the school. It is also our belief that the school is the hub of learning for the community. Having the school media center open during the summer is becoming a necessity. Oakland County has seen a seventy-seven percent increase in poverty. This is true for Gill Elementary School. We have seen an increase in students receiving free and reduced breakfast/lunch. We have seen and increase in the number of families without cars and families without internet access or electronic devices.

In cooperation with the Farmington Community Library, we were able to bring books, computers, crafts, summer reading, story time and healthy snacks to our families once a week at the hub of the community, our school. We made futures brighter at Gill during the summer.
