Abstract

This program development and evaluation project aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a multicomponent intervention approach for improving blood pressure control in adult patients diagnosed with hypertension at an outpatient primary care clinic. A retrospective analysis was conducted to determine the percentage of patients with controlled blood pressure and to compare pre- and post-intervention rates. The intervention included provider education, training for medical assistants, and patient education while assessing potential cost savings. Both descriptive statistics and statistical analyses were conducted. Overall, the results demonstrated a 2.21% increase in controlled blood pressure readings and $60,000 in potential annual savings with this improvement after implementing the multi-component interventions, highlighting the significance of practical, multifaceted approaches to managing hypertension.
