Abstract
This project addresses the multifaceted nature of experiences and challenges for international students studying at Western higher education institutions (HEIs), focusing on their integration in a way that allows them to preserve their cultural integrity. Despite the ever-growing numbers of international students studying at Western HEIs, many institutions do not provide international students with either adequate or holistic support services that promote integration and/or preserve cultural integrity. To adequately support international students at Western HEIs, institutions need to develop comprehensive support systems that extend across campuses. In response, I propose the creation of an International Student Learning Community that is designed to assist international students with integrating with their host campuses in a manner that allows them to preserve their cultural integrity. The International Student Learning Community is intentionally designed to create an interwoven network of support across campuses that provides international students with opportunities to both integrate with their host campus communities and maintain their cultural integrity.
