Abstract
This project attempts to model a solution for the "gap" between academic studies in professional Information Systems programs and industry specifically in the context of larger enterprises with IT staff situated in the local community. The specific areas identified are team work skills, people skills, business understanding, skills adaptability and real world experience which are addressed by introducing student project teams into local IT staff, providing a mentor for the student lead and solving a business need within the context of a project deliverable. This project researches a similar program at the University of Michigan as a means of building upon existing knowledge and experience. A specific program is presented, backed up by prototype testing and results, followed by a discussion of issues that ought to be considered and future work. A lengthy appendix and set of attachments offers case study material, sample forms and references.
