In 2011 a collaborative project involving Grand Valley State University, Alpena Community College, Northwest Maritime Center (NWMC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and others was initiated to explore shipwrecks in the Great Lakes and inland lakes of the Midwestern United States. Our goals are to document known shipwrecks and hopefully discover new ones. We have focused our efforts on education, research and public outreach. This website provides video footage of shipwrecks that were filmed with a Remotely Operated Vehicle as well as a few images using a side scan sonar.
