Electronic Health Records (EHRs) Meaningful Use Educational interventions HITECH Act
Electronic Health Records (EHRs) are useful to reduce healthcare costs and medical errors. However, healthcare professionals are failing to use EHRs in a meaningful manner, meaningful use. For successful implementation of meaningful use of EHRs, training should be required. By following the HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) Act were incentivizing healthcare professionals to improve the adoption of EHRs for meaningful use. The primary objective of this review is to justify that the policymakers should develop and implement different interactions and evidence-based training to improve the meaningful use of EHRs and the potential solutions to existing challenges. They were developed and conducted a literature search in PubMed for the meaningful use of EHRs. Six of 45 reviews and full-text articles met the inclusion criteria based on the objective. In conclusion, this review suggested that educational interventions and evidence-based training will help to improve the meaningful use of EHRs. It is justifying that following the HITECH act policies investing in meaningful use of EHRs will improve the quality healthcare of the hospitals. The policymakers and government should invest in the development and implementation of the interventions, evidence-based training, and potential solutions to minimize existing challenges.
