Abstract
The Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) technology allows radio broadcasters to provide additional information on their conventional FM radio broadcasts. If broadcasters choose to install this technology on their radio station there is usually the need for additional software to manage this messaging. Typical messaging consists of artist, title and station identification information, but is not limited to these with the appropriate software. The goal of this project is to provide the software to allow radio stations to customize the messaging. The RDSExpress application will allow radio stations to have the flexibility to manage this messaging system. With the ability to customize RBDS messaging, advertising revenue can be increased due to the ad specific information that can be displayed as the commercial is airing. The customized messaging can also be used to promote upcoming radio station events. The RDSExpress application is a tool to enhance the listener’s experience. This system was implemented in C# using Visual Studio.NET.
