Abstract

A high-quality interface makes it easier for users to notify the process as to what the user intend to do. It is also important for the system to request information from the user in the best possible and understandable way to make the interaction meaningful. Unambiguous communication between the user and the computer is the operational premise of a good User Interface design. Keeping this in mind, S. Abraham & Sons Inc. (SAS), the leading wholesale retailer and distributor in town, decided to create an effective user interface for the online applicants. Due to severe-to-worse economic conditions in the U.S and especially in Michigan, SAS in the past several months has received unexpected amount of applications for a single job opening. This has not been the trend when the contemporary online application system was designed several years ago. Also, SAS realized the need for a change of the online application process. These were the reasons which provoked SAS to enhance the online application system, hence this project was proposed. This project is aimed at creating a good user interface and integrating the application database with Microsoft SQL Server database. Currently SAS uses a meager user interface with Microsoft Access database as backend for these online applications.
