Abstract
Storing and presenting hierarchical data is a challenge for relational databases. Relational databases were not designed for this purpose. Because of this, many tools and techniques have been developed for managing such data. Furthermore, there are many possibilities for presenting hierarchical data (reports), ranging from free open-source, to commercial products. This project focuses on analyzing and recommending appropriate tools and techniques to manage and report hierarchical data within the proposed system. Implementation strategies and a proof-of-concept are provided for the recommendations made.
