Abstract

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and GVSU Theater (a major in the School of Communications) is producing a multifaceted bilingual performance of Tirso de Molina's Antona García for the 2012 Siglo de Oro Drama Festival at Chamizal National Memorial, El Paso, Texas. Performance dates are March 7 and 8. There is a subsequent production on the GVSU campus March 30- April 8. Alfred Sheffield as scenic and lighting designer prepares and supervises the scenery and lighting design for the production. Specific activities that are performed for the production at Chamizal National Memorial: Travel to Chamizal. Liaise with Memorial professional staff in preparing and executing the lighting of Antona Garcia. Direct the focusing of available special instrumentation and cueing of stage lighting for Antona Garcia. Supervise and direct the unpacking and assembly of stage scenery and properties Antona Garcia. Attend and assist with rehearsals at Chamizal. Attend the first public performance and give notes as needed to technical and management staff for subsequent performances.
