Abstract
This paper will discuss the curriculum that is currently being offered at all four year colleges and universities in the United States who grant degrees in criminal justice. It will specifically discuss the curriculum in relation to the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences certification process for criminal justice programs. As criminal justice programs age the need for certification and proper assessment is a growing concern. To advance professionalism in the field the issues surrounding the need for standards must be addressed on a global scale.
