Abstract
This paper will explore the concept of cinematic embodiment in the Dogme 95 film The Celebration (Thomas Vinterberg, 1998) in the context of David Herman's work on narrative. The primary narrative elements include what he calls (i) situatedness, (ii) event sequencing, (iii) worldmaking/world disruption and (iv) what it is like. (Herman 2009). Of particular interest is the final element, which involves the experience of living through the changing story world along with the characters. In fact, at their most fundamental level, stories express the human experience of change over time
