Abstract
Recent shifts in education and cutbacks in funding for arts in public education have created an atmosphere of change in the landscape of music education. With fewer music teaching positions available, it is evident that undergraduate music education programs must provide students with the pedagogical skills necessary to be competitive in the job market. To meet the future needs of our undergraduate music education majors, the music education faculty at our institution has examined the efficacy of our degree program and modified our curricular offerings with the hope of providing a more thorough and well sequenced music teacher preparation program.
