Abstract
Although student loan borrowing practices are prevalent amongst college students, there are minimal interventions that are implemented to ensure financial literacy. These federally required interventions, Loan Entrance Counseling and Loan Exit Counseling, continue to be disadvantageous and ineffective (Fernandez, 2015). This project analyzes the importance and effectiveness of financial literacy programs at postsecondary institutions. Students and scholars both indicate that additional financial literacy interventions in addition to the current programs would be beneficial for students for both short term and long term goals (Markle, 2019). Thus, this project will provide a framework to implement a financial literacy program that focuses on student loan processes and procedures, financial literacy, and future financial planning.
