Abstract
There is a need for teachers to include high quality diverse texts into their classrooms, especially in the classroom library. The purpose of this project is to provide Kindergarten through Second Grade teachers with access to diverse literature that can be utilized in classroom read alouds as well as added to classroom libraries to help young students establish their identity as readers. Participating in a year long Professional Learning Community about diverse texts will help teachers develop the necessary knowledge and skills to begin to build their foundation for utilizing and including diverse texts in their classrooms through discussion and reflection.
