Abstract
This project investigates the first-year experience of conditionally admitted students in higher education institutions. The findings within the literature highlight the needs that conditionally admitted students require, which include but are not limited to: the need for greater academic support, mental health support, and understanding of the school-life balance. By understanding the first-year experiences of conditionally admitted students, the project was able to implement strategies to ensure a smoother transition. To do this, a design for first-year workshops designed specifically for conditionally admitted students was developed that addressed resources and support, emotional intelligence and self-care, and time management and organization.
