Abstract
Research has revealed that trauma is prevalent in school-age children and it is having an impact on their ability to be successful at school and beyond. This project explores the history of the introduction and importance of developmental bibliotherapy in the elementary school classroom. An effective bibliotherapy program must educate teachers, acknowledge the needs of the students, and be implemented with fidelity. Teachers must understand their role and have access to appropriate resources. School staff must communicate and share student information.
