Abstract
In schools across the United States, chronic absenteeism has become a glaring problem for public schools. Researchers have begun investigating the lasting academic and social-emotional effects that chronic absenteeism has on students. Now that educators and researchers have identified the potential for this lasting, they have begun researching the most effective ways to address chronic absenteeism in schools. This project explores the lasting academic and social-emotional effects of chronic absenteeism on students. Additionally, this project sought out to identify risk factors to better identify and address chronic absenteeism through this program. This program will operate as a tier one intervention aimed at calling upon the school, community, and student’s home to support the student in their academic journey.
