Event Title

Biostatistics Internship at Neurocore

Location

Hager-Lubbers Exhibition Hall

Description

PURPOSE: As part of the Biostatistics PSM program, students are required to complete an internship related to the program. I completed an internship at Neurocore as a Biostatistics Intern. This internship provided me with opportunities to apply the skills I learned in my degree program, as well as experiences that will benefit me in my future career. CHALLENGE: I began my internship early on in my degree program which required me to go out on my own and learn methods that had not yet been covered in my program. EXPERIENCE: As an intern at Neurocore, I was responsible for literature reviews, data extraction and importing, data cleaning and manipulation, analysis planning and implementation, creating graphs, and writing reports. I spent time learning new statistical techniques and learning how to efficiently present results of analyses in SAS. OUTCOME: During my internship I had the chance to complete multiple projects. I planned analysis for Neurocore’s client satisfaction surveys and wrote automated reports to display the analysis. I also had the opportunity to work on manuscripts related to the treatment of ADHD and poor sleep with Neurofeedback. IMPACT: My internship was extremely valuable to my graduate education. Because of this experience I feel prepared and confident to start a full-time career in the Biostatistics field.
