Harrison Compton, Grand Valley State University

Harrison Compton is a Senior majoring in History with an emphasis on 20th Century China. During the summer of 2019, Harrison was chosen to work with the archivists at Grand Valley State University Special Collections and University Archives to research and create the framework for a display showcasing recently donated allied military documents surrounding the surrender of the Germans during World War II. In his free time, he enjoys playing bass and acoustic guitar, bike riding and disc golf. Upon graduation, Harrison hopes to be able to study abroad gaining his graduate and doctoral degrees in Chinese history with goals to apply these degrees teaching at a collegiate level.

Erin Klitzke, Grand Valley State University

Erin M. Klitzke is a Senior about to obtain her second bachelor’s degree. This time around she is pursuing a degree in Political Science with an emphasis on Human Rights and Policy. From the age of 10, Erin has been a fictional story writer. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sewing, and writing. Once she graduates, Erin plans to earn a doctoral degree in history.

David Dehn, Grand Valley State University

David Dehn is a Senior at Grand Valley State University. His major is History with a specific interest in 20th Century trauma and fascism in Europe. Upon graduating David would like to pursue a doctorate in history.

Alexander Carlberg, Grand Valley State University

Alexander Carlberg is a Senior at Grand Valley State University. He is a History major in pursuit of earning a PhD in Hittitology, the study of the ancient people who established an empire in Asia Minor and Syria that flourished from c. 1700 to c. 1200 BC. In his free time Alexander enjoys illustrating comics, listening to history audiobooks, and working out.

Anna Rimanelli, Grand Valley State University

Anna Rimanelli is a Senior studying History at Grand Valley State University. In her free time, Anna enjoys watching movies. Currently, Anna is undecided on her path after graduation but hopes her participation in the GVSU history journal will assist her in applying her degree.

Olivia Tizedes, Grand Valley State University

Olivia Tizedes is a Senior majoring in writing with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. Her interests are specific to editing and technical writing. Olivia is a published author. Her story is an anthology resulting from a creative writing course. Currently, she is working on editing a story about COVID-19 to submit to a literary magazine. Outside of the academic world, she is heavily involved in leadership and outreach programs at her church. In her free time she loves to read, swing dance, set out on spontaneous adventures, and hang out with friends. Upon graduating, her goal is to gain a position or paid internship in the field of editing, publishing or technical writing.

Susan Wagner, Grand Valley State University

Susan Wagner is a returning student currently working towards a minor in Nonprofit Administration. In 2016, Susan received a degree in History from GVSU with her main focus on the historical study of the American Revolution and Colonial America. For the past thirteen years, Susan has had the opportunity to work as a camp counselor with Camp Discovery-a summer camp for children with Epilepsy. She is a Certified Archery Instructor and has a Brown Belt in Japanese Jiu Jitsu. In her free time, Susan enjoys playing video games and creative writing. Once she completes her minor, Susan would like to pursue her master’s degree in Anthropology and work towards a career at a museum on the east coast of the US.
