Abstract
An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a common application software platform that is designed to integrate and optimize various business processes across an entire firm. Success in an ERP system implementation project is achieved by a cautious, future driven, bureaucratic process focused on effective communication, inclusiveness, and well-defined, measurable objectives. This project will define ERP systems and identify their role in the global business environment. This project will also identify potential failures in an ERP implementation and ascertain steps to avoid those failures to achieve a successful implementation. In addition the selection process will be detailed along with a few case examples.
