Abstract
•This project is part of a larger research study for lexical ambiguity that is meant to help statistics professors assist their students in understanding the difference between the colloquial (everyday) and statistical definitions of terms •Rubrics were created to help categorize student responses for each of the terms being studied, specifically statistic and parameter. Then computers were trained to categorize the student responses based on these rubrics •As the research assistant working on this project, one of my jobs was to hand code written student definitions in order to validate the codes assigned by the computer. •The main goal of this project is to determine the extent to which the two forms of coding agreed
