Abstract

Research on the effect of blockchain technology has increased in recent years, however, there are gaps on how it will affect inventory management. The author will begin to fill that gap by discussing implementation of blockchain in retail-level inventory management. Using in-depth interviewing methods, the author will discuss current inventory management practices with managers and associates at an international clothing retailer. While there are several concerns about blockchain, the author will show how it can benefit this small section of the supply chain through improved visibility, decreases in non-value-added time, and accuracy.
