    I spent a long time sitting at a nearby cafe watching him doing his work diligently. He was very focused, as though not a whole world walked by him. Sometimes he got interrupted by a passerby who asked him a question. Then he would just go back to his work, as though nobody else was around. At sunset he packed his sawing machine in a small suitcase, and off he went. It was the end of a long working day. The next day he would probably be found on the same spot.

    I was wandering on the streets of Siem Reap, well-known for being a base to visit the Angkor temples, trying to get a glimpse of local life. I suddenly saw a school and a sign saying tourists are welcome to help teachers and kids with English pronunciation. I entered to have a chat with a teacher, and a day later I found myself giving a 'class' there.

    At the entrance of this very important temple for the Thai people, there is a basin with water and lotus flowers next to it with which people would bless themselves, by immersing the lotus flower in the water and then touching their head with it. It was pure joy watching their different reactions, and particularly the children's! I spent quite a long time rejoicing in their pleasure...
