Abstract

After the fall of the Soviet Union, the United States, free of the Cold War became the dominant Superpower of the World. Yet it was also during this time that events conspired in Somalia, Rwanda and Bosnia that tarnished the image of the United States. Within these incidences of human rights violations, there was one major intervention by the United States under Bill Clinton, Kosovo. Why was Kosovo chosen to be helped and how did the Clinton administration come to the conclusion that intervention was necessary? I seek to answer these questions with an oral presentation using analogical reasoning and history to describe how the decision makers came to the conclusion that intervention was the only way to ensure the safety of Kosovo.
