Description
PURPOSE: Working Under the Surface aimed to construct a safe and productive space for coworkers to discuss this conflict, specifically harm around their identity. Research indicates that 85% of employees experience inevitable conflicts at work. Half of coworker conflict occurs due to personality clashes and egos. PROCEDURES: From our research and collaboration, we invited all members of a student affairs unit to participate and share their experiences. OUTCOME: These conversations aspired to affirm coworkers’ feelings, empower them to advocate, and participate in change efforts. IMPACT: What was learned in these spaces will eventually be implemented to accomplish a company culture shift in the student affairs unit. Ultimately, these changes are necessary to better serve the individuals who require their services.
