Boat Racing Festival in Vang Vieng, Laos
The Festival usually takes place at the end of Buddhist Lent (like most things in Laos, this varies wildly depending on the region). I took this photo towards the end of the day of the races so the atmosphere had calmed down quite a bit from earlier in the day when everybody was screaming for their favorite racers and drinking Beer Lao on the river bank.

Shanghai Marriage Market
About every month, parents of unmarried children flock to People's Park in central Shanghai to try and find their son or daughter a partner. The umbrellas have pieces of paper tacked onto them that list their child's age, gender, occupation, salary, and education, along with a brief description of what the child is looking for in a partner.

Busojaras Festival in Mohacs, Hungary
The huge fire is supposed to scare away winter. Busós dance and sing around the fire.

Making chimney cakes (Kürtőskalács)
These cakes made by wrapping dough around a dowel, covering them in sugar, and spinning them over a fire until they are crisp on the outside and doughy on the inside. They are then rolled in toppings and served hot.

Traditional mask maker for the Busós
He is one of the last few traditional mask makers for Busojaras Festival or Mohács Festival held over six days ending the day before Ash Wednesday. He says he only makes a mask when he feels inspired to do so.

Naming Ceremony
Following performances by local children, our group members were given Akan day names in a ceremony held by the Chief and Queen Mother.
