Susan Florio-Ruane, Ed.D., is Professor of Teacher Education at Michigan State University. Currently the President of the Council on Anthropology and Education, she is a member of MRA and has written widely in books and journals about literacy education, the social organization of classrooms and schools, and the process of learning to teach writing. Her current research concerns the role of ethnic autobiography infuture teachers' learning about culture, literacy, and schooling.
