Gloria R. Schade is entering her 5th year as a teacher
of ninth-grade English, power reading, and Spanish for
Warren Consolidated Schools at Sterling Heights High
School. She holds a bachelor's degree from Wayne State
University and a master's degree in reading and language
arts from Oakland University. She was inspired to write
this piece after reading three of Kimberly Willis Holt's
novels and meeting her in person this past summer.
