Sandy Brehl received a master of education degree from the University
of Wisconsin-Milwaukee early in her teaching career. During her lengthy
experience teaching elementary students in Milwaukee-area public
schools, she has utilized picture books with students of every age. The
original article cited generated these reflections on the unique ability of
picture books to stimulate the thoughtful observations and discussions
that she seeks to develop among her students.
