Ed Spicer teaches first-grade students at North Ward Elementary School in Allegan, Michigan. He also runs a teen book group at Allegan High School and coordinates the high school literacy contest for high school authors and artists. He has been a member of the Teean Read Week Committee, the Michael L. Printz Committee (2005), Best Books for Young Adults (2006-2008), and the Randolph Caldecott Committee (2009). Ed gives presentations on books to schools, universities, libraries, and even groups like the American Chemical Society (on teaching and visual literacy). Currently, Ed is a member of the Notable Children's Book Committee of the Association for Library Services to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
