Dr. ThedaMarie Gibbs Grey is an assistant professor
of reading in the Patton College of Education at Ohio
University. During her 16 years as an educator, she
has enjoyed developing curriculum and teaching and
supporting the literacy development of middle and
high school students. Over the past seven years, she
has worked at the university level preparing undergraduate
and graduate students to be effective, culturally
relevant, and engaging teachers of reading. She can be

Dr. Raven Jones Stanbrough is a product of Detroit
Public Schools, K-12, and an assistant professor in the
Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State
University.
Dr. Jones Stanbrough’s teaching, research,
and publications focus on debate education, literacy,
culture, race, equity, and the educational and lived
experiences of students of color in urban contexts.
She has also taught in K-12 settings and served as a
Director of Debate. She is also the co-founder of The
Zuri Reads Initiative, an effort that provides and organizes
literacy-related events and resources for Detroitarea
children, students, and families. In her spare time,
Dr. Jones Stanbrough loves to play Scrabble with her
husband, Darryl, and their three-year-old daughter,
