We used a children's book with three groups of students (ages 6-9) to foster mathematical engagement through read alouds. We will share lessons learned from this experience as we integrate children’s literature with mathematics through the lens of Power of Yet.

Dr. Kathleen Crawford-McKinney is an Associate Professor of Literacy Education at Wayne State University. She is interested in Global Children’s Literature and Culturally Responsive Literacy Practices in Urban Education.
Dr. S. Asli Özgün-Koca is a professor of mathematics education at Wayne State University. Her primary research focuses on the use of technology in mathematics education and mathematics teacher education.
